Upcoming Abstractionistas Exhibition: Paper

Exhibition news: 

"Paper" is an exhibition by the Scottish women's art collective, the Abstractionistas, featuring works by artists, Megan Chapman: Abstract Painter, Judith Shaylor Art, and Susan Elizabeth Wilson.

The Pop-Up show is open to the public from 11-4 pm on the 12th, 13th and 14th of August at the Granton:hub, Madelvic House, Granton Park Avenue, Edinburgh, EH5 1HS. The artists will have a public reception on Saturday the 13th from 2-4 pm. Join us!

Permission granted

Today I thought I might share a bit of an old-school-style post. Back when I first started this blog, I gave a lot of tips and shared the processes I followed for getting into galleries, setting up exhibitions, and just coming to terms with being an artist in general.

First of all, here's a permission slip. Feel free to add to it - because as long as you are not hurting yourself or someone else - you have permission. Go express yourself!

Okay with permission now granted, let's listen to a couple of clips about creativity.

What can I tell you now?

I am grateful for the flowers and the honest conversations. 

I am grateful for bowls of soup served on the tables of friends.

I am grateful for the "Just checking in..." and "Hows you?" lighting up my phone. 

I am grateful for the sounds of nature: birdsong, wind, and waves. 

I am grateful for dreams, new ideas, and laughter. 

I am grateful for the tall grass as it dances. 

Oh, what a beautiful world. 

Thank you sun, moon, stars, and music. 

Thank you art, film, and culture. 

Alchemy, magic, and mystery. 

Thank you.

The same old things

I don't want to talk about the same old things. 

I don't want to think about the same old things. 

I don't want to make the same old things. 

I just want to lose myself in the light.

It's officially summer. I officially want to enjoy it.

The news of the world is too much.

I can still officially enjoy summer while keeping my eye on the world.

I can still move forward in my art and life while enjoying summer.

So, here we go.
