Statement
I thought I would find you here presents works by Megan Chapman and Stewart Bremner, in their first official collaborative exhibition. Including selections created by both artists as individuals, the heart of this show is comprised of a series they painted together, during an intensive period of creativity in May 2011.
Megan from Fayetteville, Arkansas and Stewart
from Edinburgh, Scotland, had been following each other's work and
corresponding for over a year, before Stewart came to visit Megan. The
pair were excited to finally have the chance to work together.
Each
collaborative painting in this exhibition contains characteristics of
both artists, merged together to create something new and more complex.
The initial response to these works has been favorable and several are
held in private collections.
Punctuating the
exhibition are the artist's individual paintings, which demonstrate the
similarities in their visual languages and were created both before and
after this unique collaborative experience.
