The above works are now all varnished, titled, signed, and dated on the back. I really enjoyed creating this collection of bold drawings and paintings on paper in 2020-2021. I think they are quite special and I hope you will too. There is strong alchemy weaving through all of these. I am packing them up in clear sleeves and backing boards and getting them reading to share, show, and ship!

I will be participating in the Christmas Exhibition and Makers Market at the Edinburgh Palette on London Road in Edinburgh, the 11th and 12th of December from 12-4pm in the 3rd-floor galleries at St. Margaret's House. I will have three paintings on the walls of the gallery and I will also have loads of works on paper and canvas in the Makers Market along with my fellow Abstractionistas at our stall! So put it on your calendars now and plan to come and see us and our dynamic work (covid restrictions permitting of course). We look forward to seeing you!

Here's my Tuesday Studio Video Visit showcasing a few of the small works I will have available at the Abstractionistas stall.

Don't forget I am also having an ONLINE STUDIO SALE with ten of my paintings listed at 50% off. Click to SHOP the sale here. Ideally, you can come and collect these works from my studio but if you are in the UK and want them shipped please don't let that stop you from contacting me. I am sure we can arrange something.

That's it for the Friday studio blog this week. Thank you for joining me - hope to see you out at the market and exhibition and of course always online. Take good care - Megan

On Tuesday, I varnished all day long... I had quite the pile of works on paper created in 2020 and 2021 to get through. It was so good to see the works and even find a few more that hadn't been finished the last time I checked. I love it when they finish cooking on their own. A watched pot and all that...

The two above are the newest editions to a now 15 piece series called, "This is how we tell the story." They are all A2 sized and make a great impact, filled with gesture, drama, and mystery.

In other news, I will be participating in the Christmas Exhibition and Makers Market at the Edinburgh Palette on London Road in Edinburgh, the 11th and 12th of December from 12-4pm in the 3rd-floor galleries at St. Margaret's House. I will have three paintings on the walls of the gallery and I will also have loads of works on paper and canvas in the Makers Market along with my fellow Abstractionistas at our stall! That's all I have for you this week. I hope you are well, happy, and inspired. Please stay mindful of COVID and the new variant, and take really good care of yourself and each other. Thanks for your support.

Two exhibitions! Make plans to attend!

Hello Dear Studio Blog Readers,

I am happy to share again that I have work coming up in two exhibitions in July. It's time to get serious about the promotion of both of them. So here goes with thanks to both press releases. If you are local to Edinburgh or plan to visit, I hope you can catch one if not both of these exhibitions.

Artwork by Abigail Osborne ‘a lot of people want you to throw this away' (2020)

granton:hub is pleased to announce that our community is now included in the 'Coastal Knowledge’ project funded by the RSE Young Academy Scotland and led by Dr Niki Vermeulen (University of Edinburgh) celebrating Scotland’s (prolonged) year of coast and waters.

As a coastal community, Granton plays a part in developing diverse forms of knowledge about the coast and experiences that people have living and working on the coast.

The Recycl-Age Art exhibition was selected as part of this Coastal Knowledge project and is included in the 2021 Edinburgh Science festival, offering artists a unique opportunity to showcase their work. Recycl-Age Art 2021 includes painters, printmakers, collage artists, ceramicists, illustrators, photographers, textile artists, jewellers, composers, poets and makers. Many artworks incorporate recycled elements, indeed several are made of 100% recycled and repurposed materials. Some artists reflect on what recycling means to them, figuratively or conceptually

With contributions from: Marta Adamowicz –  Elise Ashby – Anna Baran – Emily Brooks Millar – Sandra Brown – Megan Chapman – Erin Colquhoun – Michael Dawson – Gina Fierlafijn Reddie – Penny Forbes – Komachi Goto – David Gray – Lorna Johnson – Jessica Kirkpatrick – Victor Nobis – Valerie O’Regan – Abigail Osborne – Ludovica Perosin – Ian Reddie – Judith Shaylor – Jacqueline Thow – Mark Urban – Rosemary Walker – Bev Wright

Here is the preview video:

I am delighted to participate in this exciting exhibition. As you may recall I was very inspired by the granton hub when I showed there in the past and wrote a blog about the experience. You can read that post again here. That positive experience encouraged me to apply to become a volunteer at the hub. I have been enjoying helping behind the scenes in preparation for the Recyl-Age exhibition.

On to the next big show...

A really exciting moment is approaching for the Abstractionistas, the new abstract collective of which I am a proud member. I really hope to see you at this exhibition.
